Updates: What I’ve been up to

Happy Halloween to everyone! I dressed as the universe this past Saturday and tonight, I am going to be a witch. There’s thunder and lightning outside. It feels like the perfect weather for today. I want to document what I have done the past three months because I am super grateful for the opportunities and for the outpouring of love from other writers.

In August, I was the opening reader for Amber Tamblyn, who is an activist, a phenomenal author, and an actor. It was wonderful hearing her read and speak about her new book, ANY MAN.

In September, I ran my first generative writing workshop in El Paso, Tx. I witnessed raw, beautiful souls share their words. It was illuminating.

On October 6th, I was part of the Texas Teen Book Festival, thanks to the sponsorship of LibroMobile and The Writing Barn. It was an eye-opening experience. It shifted the way I think of myself as a writer and it was so refreshing to see young people so excited about books! It was heartwarming. *crying emoji*

I had the pleasure of co-teaching with Leticia Urieta for Barrio Writers while I was at TTBF. It was wonderful working with young writers.

I was also a part of a Q&A with Lilliam Rivera (author of The Education of Margot Sanchez) She is a literal angel and I am so happy I was able to meet her and listen to her thoughtful responses. You should buy her books!

I am currently setting up readings and workshops in Santa Ana, CA & Portland, OR for the spring! I look forward to sharing more moments with y’all as I take my own little journey through the small-press writer life.
